![]() I built an addition on a previous home and went through the permit and inspection processes. As with every level of the software, each product offers capabilities, but I find for the "non-professional" like you and I who do not do it for a living, the HD Pro should do what you need, but of course there is the "learning curve" and as David Potter reminds us."it will only do what you tell it to do", so you will have to learn the software, and that comes with practice, and asking questions on this forum. Of course the Chief Architect software is the "professional" version that allows the skilled user to do "all" the most necessary design and details, however I have used the HD Pro versions myself for everything I have done and in the jurisdiction I live, have had no problems with building departments. Some states/cities require plans be done by licensed professionals (based on size and or $$$ value) however those situations are few and far between. I would start first by speaking with the Building Department of the jurisdiction you plan on building your home in, as to what is required. "I previously posted this question in the wrong forum so if you notice the double post, disreguard the "ChiefTalk" forum post." Which version would allow me to not only design the whole project but also provide the plans neccessary for my building permit submisson? ![]() My problem is, I have not been able to find anything that specifically states which version(s) would be capable of producing building plans to use in aquiring my building permits. I am thinking about purchasing the Home Designer Pro version. I need one last question answered before I lay down the $500 though. After reading many reviews on Chief Architect software and reviewing descriptions of each version I have decided to give Chief software a try. Now, I would like to design my next house, estimate materials, and produce official building permit plans. ![]() I have done some of my own home construction/re-construction/remodeling over the years. I hope to be spending some time in here asking questions and reading posts while buildng my new addition and eventually, I hope, my new home. ![]()
